Property Description:
The Upper White River mainstem is bounded by steep valley walls, and floodplain land is limited to the area along Route 100. As a fairly level, undeveloped parcel, the Millard site provides important watershed functions. The Vermont River Conservancy and Vermont Housing & Conservation Board co-hold a conservation easement on the property with the purposes of reducing erosion hazards, providing flood inundation and fluvial erosion hazard mitigation benefits, improving water quality through hydrologic, sediment, and nutrient attenuation, conserving and enhancing aquatic and riparian wildlife habitat, and enhancing ecological processes associated with the property now and in the future. Another VRC/VHCB easement is located in the abutting parcel to the north, also owned by the Millards.
