This scenic paddlers’ campsite along the Connecticut River Paddlers’ Trail is 16 river miles south of the SCA Campsite, making it an ideal stopover after a day’s paddle. Well away from roads, paddlers can enjoy the campsite’s quiet, secluded location.
In addition to the campsite, the 15-acre property has nearly 3,000 feet of river frontage, is home to one of the few remaining intact floodplain forests in the area, and has 3-acres of organic farmland. Out of respect for the private landowner who generously provides this space for paddlers, no campfires are allowed. Also, there are no outhouses here, so please either pack out human waste or bury it at least 6-inches deep and 200 feet from the river.
In addition to public access for camping, the easement protects wildlife habitat, natural communities, native flora and fauna, and ecological processes, and makes sure that Cobb Brook and the Connecticut River will always be able to meander and access their natural floodplains.

Public access is only allowed from the river. The campsite is near the mouth of Cobb Brook. To access the property, launch from Bellows Falls or North Walpole. It is a 2.7 mile paddle downstream from these sites. Alternatively, paddle 0.5 miles upstream from the access in Walpole. Look for a beach near the mouth of a tributary, and the landing is marked with campsite signage.
