Kingsbury Branch River Access

Just before the Kingsbury Branch meets the meandering Winooski River, this 5-acre parcel has a little bit of everything — walking paths, paddlers’ access, and a section of snowmobile trail. Most importantly, this conservation project protects an animal on the Vermont threatened and endangered species list, and is used by local schools for ecology education.

Two pull-offs let paddlers safely access the river, and Vermont Youth Conservation Corps helped build trails, plant native trees and shrubs, and install signs. Vermont River Conservancy bought the land, added an easement, then donated the land to the Town of East Montpelier. The land is open to the public for all to enjoy nature and access the outstanding paddling waters.
