Bienvenidos a Vermont’s Swimming Holes

Vermont’s rolling hills and lush forests – home for Onel for the past several years – still remind him of the verdant hills where he grew up in Nicaragua. Pre-covid, his travel videos featuring destinations in Mexico, Guatemala, and Costa Rica garnered a strong YouTube following. Then in 2020 his short films shifted to closer-to-home topics like how to build an igloo and ice fishing in Vermont – films he could produce from his home in Cabot, Vermont.

Last summer Onel visited a dozen Vermont swimming holes and produced six films showcasing places to enjoy riverside walks, beat the heat, or enjoy an afternoon picnic. All videos are in Spanish, a small way we can make sure we’re welcoming people of all backgrounds to our public river access sites. Even if you don’t speak Spanish fluently, Onel’s delight in these special places shines through, reaching across languages to share genuine love of Vermont’s rivers.

Dive into Onel’s videos and discover a new Vermont swimming hole to add to your summer adventure list, then visit our interactive map of Vermont swimming holes where you’ll find a full description, driving directions, and more details for each site.
