Spring Tree Planting Events Volunteer Sign Up
Join us this Spring for Tree Planting Season around the state! We have 8 sites and over 1,500 trees that we will be planting! Each site has varying dates, please register for the one(s) you would like to come to! We have sites in Brattleboro, Guilford, Fairfax, North Ferrisburgh and Wolcott. We need all the help we can get to make Vermont rivers an even better place to enjoy this summer and beyond.
Funding thanks to Watersheds United Vermont, Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Woody Buffer Block Grant (WBBG) and the Pur Projet Grant.
Why do we plant trees?
Planting trees in riparian buffers offers numerous benefits, including improved water quality, the buffer acts as a filter, erosion control, enhanced wildlife habitat and wildlife corridor, flood protection, as it slows water down, provides habitat for bugs in and around the water for trout, and trees will provide shade to cool the water. All of these benefits make them a valuable tool for environmental stewardship.
A riparian buffer, also known as a stream buffer or streamside management zone, is a vegetated area alongside a stream, river, lake, or wetland that protects water quality and aquatic ecosystems.
Tree Planting Sites: Volunteers should be aware these are the dates we have scheduled right now, but are subject to change if the weather does not cooperate. If a date changes volunteers who signed up will receive an email informing them of the change in date.
