Winooski River Cleanup in Barre, VT

Volunteer to help us clean up the riverfront in Barre, VT!

Vermont River Conservancy is excited to partner with the Barre River Access Task Force and Friends of the Winooski to create a green-up event that will brighten the spirits of Barre, while protecting wildlife and water quality! Barre is one of the communities hard hit by flooding in 2023 and 2024, so this will be a big help in their post-flood recovery efforts. The community is also working towards creating more river access in town for splashing, paddling, and enjoying the riverfront. Come join us to help clean up along our rivers in Barre!

Date: Saturday, September 14

Time: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Location: Batchelder Street parking lot near Spaulding Highschool, 155 Ayers Street, Barre, VT 05641

Details: We will meet in the parking lot adjacent to Spaulding High School, off Batchelder Street, along the Jailbranch. From here you’ll head out to sites along the river to meet site leaders who will welcome and guide you in the clean-up effort.

Remember to Bring: Closed-toed shoes are required. Work gloves are welcome! We will have snacks, buckets, and other clean-up supplies available. We hope to get into the river at low spots for debris retrieval, so waterproof boots or waders are welcome.
