Derek Ahl
Derek is a seasoned consultant, facilitator, and executive coach specializing in mindful leadership, teams, organizational behavior, and systems thinking. He focuses on raising awareness, curiosity, and compassion among leaders to align values, principles, and purpose.
His professional journey began over 25 years ago, leading wilderness expeditions and teambuilding events with programs such as Outward Bound. Often involved with facilitating board retreats and leadership cohorts, Derek is also an ordained Interfaith Minister and certified Mindful Outdoor Guide. An avid paddler and backcountry skier, he finds profound solace and spiritual connection in the more-than-human world. Derek holds a Doctorate of Theology from The New Seminary for Interfaith Studies and a MA in Liberal Studies from the University of New Hampshire.
Joining the Vermont River Conservancy’s board in 2024, Derek channels his professional background into his passion for rivers and wild spaces to support the preservation and stewardship of these vital natural resources.
