About World Fish Migration Day

World Fish Migration Day is a global celebration held every two years, bringing together thousands of organizations and communities around the world to raise awareness about the importance of migratory fish and free-flowing rivers.

From local river walks to international events, the day highlights a shared message: the vital connection between fish, rivers, and people. Migratory fish depend on healthy, connected waterways to survive, and in turn, these ecosystems support biodiversity, cultural traditions, and human well-being.

Organizations across Vermont have come together to host celebrations on the week of World Fish Migration Day, including Vermont River Conservancy. Join us!
