Reading the Riverscape: A Lumen Print River Tour

Join Vermont River Conservancy for a guided walk along the Poultney River led by VHCB AmeriCorps/Community Engagement Coordinator, Gabriella Marchesani. This free event invites participants to explore fall phenology, discover the important role native riparian plants play in river health, and create a unique lumen print. Lumen printing is a way to make photographs without a camera by placing materials directly on special photographic paper, and exposing it to sunlight. The light creates a one of a kind image or a pattern on the paper.

Blending ecological learning with hands-on artmaking, this experience encourages participants to slow down, observe the changing season, and deepen their connection to the river and surrounding landscape.

What you’ll need:

• Comfortable walking shoes or hiking footwear
• A water bottle with enough water for a 3-hour outing

Meeting and Parking Location: D&H Rail Trail Parking, Poultney VT

Participants should be comfortable walking approximately 2.7 miles on mostly flat terrain. No prior art experience is necessary—we hope you’ll join us for an afternoon of exploration, creativity, and connection to the river!
