Hambleton River Corridor Easement

For anyone who’s driven Route 2 between Marshfield and Plainfield, this stretch of the Winooski River is a delight to behold. Though cars speed past on the roadway, the waterway slows to a crawl as it twists and turns through a series of connected wetlands and meadows. Thankfully, this landowner’s easement with Vermont River Conservancy ensures the open meadowland will never be developed. Much more than just protecting a nice view, the easement protects wetland habitat important for wildlife — from hulking moose to the smallest warblers.
