Loved by generations of local residents and visitors, when the land next to Journey’s End Swimming Hole was put up for sale, the community reached out to Vermont River Conservancy and rallied together to protect this special place. Together, we protected 25 forested acres along Foote Brook, where towering trees are home to songbirds and deer yards, and the shady canopy helps keep water cool for trout and swimmers. Instead of finding “no trespassing signs,” visitors now enjoy permanently protected public access from Plot Road, and will forever have the chance to swim, splash, and fish along this half-mile of protected stream.
The town of Johnson owns the land, and Vermont River Conservancy holds the easement, working together to make sure these 25-acres will always be in their natural condition.
