Poland Covered Bridge River Access
Named for the adjacent Poland Covered Bridge built in 1887, this is a great place to begin or end a paddle, cast a line, swim, or enjoy a picnic from the beach-like sand bar… or just get the perfect photo of Poland Covered Bridge.
There’s a large grassy parking area with ample room for visitors. Paddlers just have a short carry through trees arrive at the large sandbar, creating an easy place to begin or end a canoe trip. For paddlers getting off the river here, the site is on Lamoille River right just before the unmistakable Poland Covered Bridge.
Visitors can walk or bike across the covered bridge to get to one of the main access points for the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, an area known as Cambridge Junction. This south side of the river includes restrooms and a water fountain (both open seasonally), a children’s train-themed play structure, and more parking.
Local Businesses
Stop by The Cupboard Deli in Jeffersonville to grab a creemee or some delicious pre-made foods for a picnic lunch on the river. After your paddle, refuel at Burger Barn with a local grass-fed gourmet hamburger and some hand cut fries! If you’re looking to borrow a kayak or other watercraft, Umiak Outdoor Outfitters has a rental outpost right on site!
